Alastair Blain has followed his creative pursuit all over the world, from his native home in the West of Scotland to New Zealand, Austria, and Norway. Where he has developed an intimate relationship to hand crafted materials and an ancient and traditional approach to landscape painting.

 

Integrating raw hand ground earth pigments, and hand build canvases and brushes into a timeless vision of the landscape echoing the process of the Old Romantic Masters.

 

A wholistic philosophy underlies Alastair’s work bringing together a sacred view of the motive of landscape and relationship to materials.
